Creating a Passage Item Type

Last Updated: Aug 25, 2015 10:48AM CDT
It's now easier than ever to create and deliver reading tests in Naiku to your students. Now, you can create reading passages and items and have them display side-by-side.

Follow these easy steps to create your next reading test.

1. Create Assessment
Click on the Assessments tab at the top. Then under Create, select New Assessment.

2. Create Passage

The form for creating a reading passage and sub-items is shown below. Sub-items are the questions that are associated with the passage. First, copy and paste or write the passage into the stem.

After putting your passage in the stem, you must attach questions to your passage. There are two different ways to attach these questions to your passage:

Searching items for your passage

To search for a test items that they have already created and attach those items to a passage, simply click search. A pop out box, shown below, will appear. Within the search box, you will have the ability to search by Stem, Tags, Item Type, Subject, Grade, among other things. Once a search has been completed, any items with the characteristics you chose will populate at the bottom of the search box. Click on the item to view it in another tab, or click the check box to add it to your passage.

Save and create a…….

The second option for adding items to your passage is to hover over “Save and create a” to create a new item of your choice to attach to the passage. When you hover over this button, it will allow you to select the item type of your choice. You will now be brought to the creation page for that item type. Once you have completed creating this item, you have the option to “Save and create a,” which will allow you to create additional items to add to your passage, or you can “Save and add to test” to save the passage and any items attached to the passage.
