Adding Items from the Navigate Item Bank

To add items from the Navigate professional item bank into your new test, click Search Items from the Create New Assessment window,

From the resulting search window, select Navigate from the Item Bank drop down menu to filter your search results to just those from the bank.

Next, choose a standard to filter your results to questions that are aligned to that standard. Select By Standards from the top menu bar in the search window to search by national, state, or local standards available to you.  Navigate items are aligned to state standards, so we'll use a VA state standard for this example.

You can select a standard by either typing in the name or number in the Search for a standard by ID or description window, or by choosing from the standard tree.  If typing the name, the program will suggest standards as you enter characters.  If searching from the tree, each click of a standard will open up the next level down standards.  Go to the lowest standard (finest detail), and select the one you want by clicking the + button.

The standard selected is shown at the bottom left.  Click Search at bottom right to see the search results.

From the search results click the checkbox next to a question to quickly add that question to your test, or click on Num. of Items Desired to have the program autopopulate items for you.  If you want to narrow your search results further, click By Item Attributes to filter by DOK, Item Type, and many other attributes.

When done, exit from the search window to go back to creating your test.  You'll see whatever items you have chosen added to your test.
